600 gold for a glowing piece of wood?!

It bears mentioning again: in the MMO world, a stick is expensive. Especially one of those glowing stick thingies from Brightwood. With the number of servers around though, it's really hard to keep track of the prices everywhere. More importantly for the adventuring paupers of the World of Warcraft, you can't help but feel bad when something you've been looking for is right there at the auction house, yet desperately beyond your grasp. All because of exorbitant prices.

Well, the best way to get rid of depression and frustration is to laugh at the absurdity of other people's lives. Since there's now a repository of auction information for you to feel better about being poor, you can go ahead and laugh at the price gouging happening in other realms and forget that purple sword you can't afford for now.

This site, known as the World of Warcraft Auction House Database, tries to store up-to-date information on the prices of just about every item that can be sold in Blizzard's auction houses. You can also filter your search by typing in the name of the item you're looking for, the type of item, the server it's from, and even specify a search depending on how much an item costs or who's selling it.

The site is currently in beta, so don't expect up-to-the-minute reports. Also, if you're Horde, you're currently out of luck, as we don't see an indication of Horde side information popping up on the site yet. Still, they'll probably plug that into their site eventually. 'Til then, wait, watch, and feel better that someone is paying twice as much for the thing you've so desperately wanted.
