Piers Harding-Rolls, one such analyst, mentioned that Activision's good library of games and Vivendi's perseverance to create quality games will allow Activision Blizzard to "compete more effectively" with other major gaming publishers. He added:

I believe this acquisition could prompt further consolidation perhaps from other large media companies acquiring games publishers or from two publishers merging, but I would expect any deal to be underpinned by a very good portfolio and strategic fit, as exhibited by this deal.

Harding-Rolls expect the Activision Blizzard merger to be successful, due to Activision's wildly-popular Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock (Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC) and Blizzard's World of Warcraft MMORPG.

 » I wonder...

... how big does Blizzard have to get before it gets bought out by Microsoft?
