World of Warcraft - Maintenance schedules changed - Image 1Yes, that's right folks! Blizzard is changing the way they're going to execute maintenance downtimes, so that they will avoid three weeks worth of downtimes during Tuesdays. Thanks to the promising results of their live realm maintenance tests, now they'll only bring down all realms every other week.

For those weeks where maintenance downtimes will not be applied, rolling restarts will be issued to keep game session interruptions short, unless you have issues with your connection.

When patches are applied, maintenance downtimes will be mandatory, but after the application of the patch, the following week will only be a rolling restart, instead of maintenance downtime.

And from there the alternating schedule resets, with rolling restarts every other Tuesday, and maintenance downtimes in-between those. So mark this day, because as of today (March 13, 2007), the new schedule takes effect with a rolling restart to be issued today. Okay so do you know what's next after that? Oh a winner! Cookie for you!
