Blizzard's World of Warcraft MMORPG - Image 1MMORPGs released in multiple regions normally have localization teams which adopts the conventions used in the game (such as language) to the user base. In this case however, it seems that Blizzard's Europe team may have missed changing the measurement of distances in World of Warcraft from yards to meters.

Community Manager Salthem on the WoW Europe forums said that this wasn't a mistake on the part of Blizzard. He pointed out that the yards in World of Warcraft are purely fictional and any similarity with any measurements being used in the world is purely coincidental.

Salthem's answer lead to a discussion among the WoW community about using a different system which incorporated game terms such as the Gnomish kilometers. If Blizzard will consider changing the current measurement system, then we'd like to throw in our own suggestions such as adding a Tauren foot (hoof?) or perhaps an Undead centimeter.
