It was previously mentioned that due to the unique conditions of Northrend, World of Warcraft players will be deprived of the use of their hard-earned epic mounts in the new areas of the expansion Wrath of the Lich King .

This caused a lot of grumbling from many of the members of the  official WoW forums. There were a lot of speculations on how the developers from Blizzard planned on creating an alternative way for players to use mounts in the new expansion.

Theories from specialized mounts usable only in Northrend to a new riding skill tier for WotLK were passed around the forum. However, Blizzard poster Bornakk was able to squash any further speculations with this announcement:

We have stated in the past that we don't have any announced plans to add another tier of riding skill in Wrath of the Lich King. While you won't be able to use your current flying mounts right when you get to Northrend, we plan to allow you to use them at a later point in time.
