Server down - ouch - Image 1

World servers getting you down? The World of Warcraft forum is abuzz over these recurring server crashes, and while it's amusing to see your guild posse log out and in en-masse, it's like water droplet torture - it will eventually drive you insane. But while Blizzard can't say when the fixes will be done, they sent WoW spokesperson Nethaera over to let everybody know they're working on it:

We are aware that certain realms are experiencing performance issues such as continent crashes, "world server down" errors, and instance crashes, primarily during peak hours. We’re monitoring these realms very closely and have already applied various fixes, and additional fixes are being tested as we speak. As always, we appreciate your patience and support with these issues; we'll continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

There is speculation going about that the crashes only flared up shortly after the recent game maintenance. We'll just have to wait and see if the two are connected, or if it's just plain bad luck. You may resume your level grinding and realm exploration.
