Blizzard's World of Warcraft MMORPG - Image 1

There's been a recent issue going around the World of Warcraft community which messes up the game's user interface. Many players noted that their combat logs tend to go through a massive loop once their character changes zones.

The problem was tied to the amount of framerate lag generated upon entering a new zone. This leads all the combat log messages posted in the last 5 minutes to repeat themselves. This problem is prevalent most especially in places with a large amount of spawns and other character activity (like raid boss encounters).

Fortunately, Blizzard UI specialist Slouken was able to post some handy tips on how to fix this problem on the WoW forums. Here are the two easy steps to help correct this problem:
  1. Select the “Everything” tab
  2. /script Blizzard_CombatLog_CurrentSettings.settings.showHistory = false
This should prevent combat logs to be refiltered when you zone. However, it will also prevent you from seeing any of the old messages with the "Everything" tab.

Slouken also explained that this procedure can be undone if you happen to accidentally set the wrong tab by typing the following after reselecting the broken tab:

/script Blizzard_CombatLog_CurrentSettings.settings.showHistory = true

This quick fix should suffice until Blizzard can come up with a more permanent solution to this issue.
