The Ashbringer, who's lore is often expounded on by theorizing fans, is probably the single most talked-about item in the melee scene. Because of its rather incomplete history, people believed that the story would continue in Outland, for players were advised of another Mograine son within World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade territory that could aid in attaining the sword in its uncorrupted state.
It's no secret that The Order of the Silver Hand, led by none other than Tirion Fordring, would make a popular comeback in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. The anticipation to see the wielder of the legendary (and by all means we do mean legendary) Ashbringer has brought every melee avatar capable of handling a sword with two hands to insatiable excitement.
Why? Because if there's anything a fighter would need to outshine 9 million other players, it would be a legendary weapon akin to He-Man's Sword of Power. Or you could consider that it's a hope of many theorists around, after Blizzard made it known that the uncorrupted form of the Ashbringer would stay in NPC hands.
But at least there is hope that players just might be able to continue their quest to recreate the legendary sword from scratch. Community manager Bornakk said, "The Ashbringer is a mysterious item with a powerful following through the lore. We would like to continue weaving an exciting story around it for brave adventurers to explore."
Although there was no indication if the story would continue in Outland, there's a high possibility that it will certainly take flight in Wrath of the Lich King. Will the lucky players, currently wielding their own corrupted Ashbringer (pictured above), finally wield a brand new Ashbringer of their own? We'll have to wait and see.
