Do you want to change your appearance in WoW? - Image 1

A lot of players in World of Warcraft have been asking for the ability to change their appearance in-game. While it can be argued that the items you equip does change your look a bit, there's nothing you can do about the hairstyle, facial hair, or skin tone of the character you rolled.

The requests of players were heard by the GMs and they sent Blizzard Poster/Forum Moderator Drysc to announce that this option could possibly be implemented in a future patch. One thing you should notice in the statement given though, is the lack of a time frame regarding the changes. Here are his exact words:

We definitely still want to implement the hairdressers, dance studios, plastic surgeons, etc. but there are just no concrete plans at this time and until such a feature is actually implemented and more or less 'locked' for a patch we wouldn't be able to announce it.

Of course, the community was excited by this announcement and multiple threads have been popping up regarding when it'll come to pass. Blizzard Poster/ Forum Moderator Nethaera has further reinforced the fact that this is "a possibility", although details on when it will happen still can't be given.

If you're one of the players that want this implemented, I honestly believe that it won't be happening any time soon considering what the moderators have been posting on the forums. It would be rather counterproductive if the developers focused on a completely cosmetic change when there are gameplay issues that need to be addressed.

The vast majority of the gameplay issues that need to be addressed effect only those areas of the game accessible only to toons over level 60. How about making some changes for the benefit of those who aren't even facing those issues? Are we to be considered insignificant?

The fact is, there will always be "gameplay issues." If not to fix existing ones, then it'll be to fix ones introduced in the latest patch. These patches, BTW, will also be primarily of interest only to lvl 60+ players.

While I realize that many, if not most (if not almost all) subscribers do have lvl 60+ toons, let's continue to improve the game for brand new players.

I'd like to see numbers on how many active accounts (that are actually being used) do have 60+ toons. My bet is it isn't a majority of them.
