Male and Female Death Knights in World of Warcraft - Image 1Some MMORPG players have been asking if they can create female Death Knights in the World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King. The reason this issue was raised is because it may cause conflict with the current lore of the game, which states that Lady Blaumeux is the only known female member of the class.

Members of the community said that just because Blaumeux is the only known Death Knight doesn't mean that she is the only one in existence. After all, it would not be beyond the Lich King to have the rest of the female Death Knights hide among the populace of Azeroth ready to strike at the defenses of his foes from within.

Community Manager Bornakk put the issue to rest saying that they have no plans of limiting the gender of the new hero class. He added that "Female Death Knights will be fighting, casting, and raising the dead just as well as male ones."

Judging from what he said, gender will simply be cosmetic and one that won't be a factor unless you're on a roleplaying server.
Regardless of the gender, we can probably expect Death Knights to be running around in the game wrecking havoc once Wrath of the Lich King goes live.
