Rumor: Starcraft 2 beta arriving soon? - Image 1

Former World of Warcraft lead designer Rob Pardo (aka Enoyls) mentioned a few interesting details on the WoW forums regarding the launch of StarCraft II. The details he gave has lead some individuals to believe that the launch date is closer than what Blizzard originally hinted.

The WoW community has been asking why Pardo no longer regularly posts on the WoW forums. He said that his presence was no longer needed since Jeffery Kaplan (Tigole) and Tom Chilton (Kalgan) have taken over the role of lead designer for the game.

He is, however, still involved with all the games released by Blizzard especially those that are close to being launched such as StarCraft II. Here were his exact words:

Yes, I'm pretty active during betas on the forums. During Starcraft, WarCraft 3, and WoW I was pretty active gathering feedback, informing people about changes and explaining new features and philosophy.

I don't post on the WoW forums much anymore because Tigole and Kalgan are now the lead designers on WoW. While I'm involved with all the games here at Blizzard, I'm focus the most on the games closest to release like StarCraft 2.

Judging from his statement, it's pretty hard to say if the game will be undergoing beta testing anytime soon or even how soon we can expect StarCraft II to hit the stands.

However, it might be good to note that he didn't mention Wrath of the Lich King so we can probably expect SC II to be available before the WoW expansion. Still, we can't help but want this rumor to be true considering we've been waiting a good ten years for StarCraft II to be released.
