How to get USB headsets to work on the PTR - Image 1Some players have been complaining about not being able to use their USB headsets in the World of Warcraft PTR. This is a very big problem considering a lot of players (this blogger included) use USB headsets to listen to music and to chat during the game.

As it turns out, to be able to use the headsets, you have to make sure to plug in the headset before starting the game. Load the game and enable the headset in the voice/sound options. Restart the game and you should be good to go. This has been confirmed to work by Blizzard poster Datth.

It was also mentioned that in the post that there are two separate sound outputs: one for game audio and one for voice audio. If you wind up hearing some sounds coming from your main speakers while the rest are routed through your headset, you'll have to go into sound options to change that.

So what are you waiting for? Fire up World of Warcraft and try it out. Hopefully, Blizzard will be able to find a way to simplify things eventually.
