Blizzard Lead Designer Jeffrey Kaplan (Tigole) was recently interviewed by Warcry .com regarding the World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King. He gave details about the Death Knight class, reputation, and the further development of all the racial storylines.
A lot of people have been asking about what niche role the Death Knight will play among the existing frontliners in the game. Kaplan said that they plan on developing the Death Knight in the same manner as the existing Feral Druid, as a tank/dps class. He added that the protection warrior will still be king in dungeons and raid tanking while protection paladins will be the best multi-target tank.
Kaplan also talked about the current direction the game is going in terms of reputation grinding and rewards. Kaplan believes that reputation grinding is a "great incentive for all types of players ranging from casual to hardcore." Because of this, he said that they plan on incorporating even more daily quests with reputation gains in Wrath of the Lich King.
Finally, Kaplan discussed racial storylines and Northrend. In a move that will thrill fans of World of Warcraft lore, Kaplan noted that the new area will expand on the storylines of the Human, Dwarf, Tauren, and Troll factions in the game. He continued by saying that all of the other races will get a few updates as well, but "those four have an especially strong presence throughout the icy continent."
