Blizzard's World of Warcraft MMORPG - Image 1In most World of Warcraft instances, characters take turns looting corpses and items in the event. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore though as it was reported that certain players have been able to repeatedly loot corpses multiple times, out of their turn order.

This problem is supposedly caused by the fact that quest items, skinning, herbing, and other such actions are now counted as getting loot. Blizzard QA Wilhelmas answered this bug report saying that the issue will be resolved in a future patch.

Hopefully, the Blizzard QA is referring to the next patch because this is a major problem for those pick-up groups of gamers who may not know everyone in their parties. That said, be wary when partying with a group of players who you don't know since the loot may not be evenly distributed to the entire party.
