Here's a news update guild masters should be pleased to know about. It's about the promised guild bank feature that's been all but clamored for by those of us who want just a bit more security with the in-game funds we all work hard for in World of Warcraft. This update comes directly from Blizzard Poster Salthem, via a blue post in the Guild Bank thread of the WoW Europe forums. His post, verbatim:
This is still under development, but currently the plans are as follows:
The Guild Master will have full control over the guild bank. He, or she, will be able to give permission to others to also have control over areas of the guild bank.
It will be possible to setup an area of the bank that everyone in the guild can donate to, but only restricted players could withdraw from. For example an area of the bank could be configured for herb donations and anyone in the guild could hand in herbs, but only the guild alchemists would be able to withdraw them.
This system should extend to currency too whereby different ranks within the guild would have access to different parts of the bank.
The guild bank will also have an online logging system on the website so that guilds will be able to track all the comings and goings from their bank.
Very nice update indeed - the guild bank is certainly sounding not only as a convenient receptacle of a guild's monetary assets, but also a more secure one. While the guild master having full control is nifty, as well as the ability to divvy up the bank into parts so that some are accessible to guild members and others are not - the feature that strikes us as the most important is the logging system. This definitely eliminates a lot of security issues.
Of course, what'd really make this a better news update is an ETA of the guild bank function, but we can't rush Blizzard on that, can we? Updates as we get them!
