Community Manager Bornakk has just given word that there are no plans to upgrade any of the legendary items in World of Warcraft. This statement was given as a response to players asking that Blizzard update the legendary weapon Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker as a level 70 item (from level 60) and increase its damage per second (DPS) to 90.

This blogger feels there's no need to do that since Thunderfury is arguably the best tanking weapon currently available. Each time it strikes, there is a chance to slow the opponent's attack speed by 20% and launch a lightning bolt dealing 300 damage to the target. The electric blast will then jump to other nearby enemies, slightly damaging them (gaining the tank more Aggro in the process) and lowering their nature resistance by 25%.

Even if the ability doesn't activate, the item deals 44 to 115 normal damage plus another 16 to 30 Nature damage per strike (56.9 DPS) and grants the wielder +5 agility, +8 stamina, +8 fire resistance, and + 9 nature resistance. The low DPS output of Thunderfury aside, those are still very solid bonuses as compared to any weapon in World of Warcraft.

It's great that Blizzard decided to leave this weapon (and the legendaries) alone since they seem to be working alright. Hopefully, they'll be focusing more on fixing some of the more glaring problems in events like the Brewfest quest bugs.
