No changes in the LFG tool for the 2.1 patch? - Image 1

The LFG tool in Blizzard's World of Warcraft needs a lot of fixes and has been eclipsed by other methods in searching for groups. Now while this tool is often deemed useless by some of the players, many fail to realize that it can be relatively efficient if only the interface were a bit more user-friendly.

Trevion on the forums gave a few suggestions on what he believes the tool should have. He wants it to be able to search for PvP groups, PvE groups below his level, groups that are on quests that start immediately, and even to filter groups based on the class/spec that is needed. Now, this may be asking a lot from Blizzard but if it could be done, then their programmers should get right to it.

Fortunately, changes have been promised for the LFG tool. Blizzard poster Nethaera has said that there will be "more changes made to the Looking For Group tool". However, these changes are slated for the 2.1 patch. Well, until the new patch comes out, we'll have to wait and see if they'll really make the tool a lot easier to use.

 » Advertisement Is the Issue

The problem with the LFG tool is that it does not advertise.

The LFG channel was successful because it allowed advertisement towards a large number of people who may not be actively looking to run something but then change there mind when they notice a need for "Mage for Scholo".

If Blizzard would simply add a channel that displays the LFG Tools current groups then they could get the same benefit of advertisement AND keep the tool. Then people could right-click on the channel to jump in on a group or request an invite.
