If you're hoping to find alternative methods of getting Nether Vortices in Blizzard's World of Warcraft, you'll probably be disappointed by this announcement. Community Manager Bornakk said that they are not planning on adding new ways to obtain the component. He added that the new items in patch 2.3 should make it easier for a guild to make progress in dungeons that do drop the item.

If you're not familiar with the Nether Vortex, it is a crafting material used in Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, and Tailoring recipes to create epic items. The item drops from all trash mobs in both the Serpentshire Cavern and the Eye raid instances. This item binds on pickup, making it necessary for the players who need it to get it from the raid themselves.

It looks like players will have to resign themselves to running the same instances to get the Nether Vortex needed for their crafted items. Hopefully, Blizzard will eventually let this item drop in other instances to give players more freedom on where they want to farm.
