Role confusion - Image 1It's a simple question. So what are we, really? Do we still have good solid roles?

The hybrid classes were once the Druid, Paladin, and Shaman. The definition of a hybrid class is having abilities of other classes which means that you can't be pigeonholed into damage (DPS), tank, or heal. Tseric explains:

With hybridization, the devs may occasionally mirror abilities from one class to another, but usually what they are trying to do is spread out functionality between classes, so that the group as a whole has responses or counters to a variety of situations, rather than single classes defined by a single type of response.

It's a check and balance system that could be best explained this way: Mages have dispel and so do Priests, so Priests would have a defense against spellcasters. Mages have decursing (which is arguably a healing spell) to use against Warlocks.

All characters have the option of being a hybrid but can choose not to be. There are still solo abilities for each class and what role you chose to take would basically command what skills or talents you take. What this does is just give players a choice - in character role and talent use as well.
