Blizzard has just announced that a Russian version for their smash hit MMORPG, World of Warcraft, will be available in the near future - as soon as next year, in fact. This Russian version marks the fifth official language version after English, French, German, and Spanish. Blizzard president and co-founder Mike Morhaime expresses gave the following remarks:
Considering the scale and enthusiasm of the Russian community, we recognized that offering a dedicated Russian-language version of World of Warcraft was the next important step for the game in Europe. We’re looking forward to providing an even more accessible gameplay experience to current and future players.
Progress on the Russian version has already started, and right now, a dedicated team of Russians are being assembled at the Blizzard offices in France and Ireland. The team will be in charge of making sure that Russian WoW players will still get the same quality of 24/7 native-language support as other European players.
Blizzard will also be releasing more information before the release of the Russian version of the game, about how Russians already playing WoW can download language packs to make the transitions easier.
