On the lifehacking side of things, screenwriter John August has a couple of things to say about Blizzard's epic MMO, and they're actually quite insightful. What he has is a list of seven real-world things he's learned from playing World of Warcraft.

Some of the more interesting ones have something to do with productivity and learning. For instance, he advises people to tackle the wounded monsters first (the half-finished tasks in life) before taking on all the big stuff to lessen your troubles. He also reminded everyone on sharing your loot with newbies in return for being taught by the veterans as well (giving knowledge to others without asking for something in return).

Of course, perhaps the most important thing he's mentioned really has to do with the nature of life and WoW. As he mentions in the last life lesson on his blog, life is about having fun, and not about making your whole life feel like work:

Obsessive planning won't make the game more enjoyable. It will just make it more like work.... On a bigger level, as you look back at any period of your life, you don't remember what a solid plan you had. You remember what you did. You remember the adventures, the scrapes, the unanticipated detours that turned out to fascinating. So don’t plan your way out of an exciting life.
