It's a small world after all. - Image 1

Over on his blog, Tobold expressed a sense of dissatisfaction with how Blizzard's new expansion has altered the scale of the gameworld as a whole. According to him, now that a person can reach higher levels than before, it seems as if the world has shrunk rather than grown. Specifically: it's shrunk down to just plain old Outland.

A major part of the problem is that after level 60 there is no real reason to go back to the old world again, except for two new dungeons and the class trainers. Most of the travelling I do now is across Outland, a single continent, and one that isn't very elongated.

He also notes the shortening of travel times once one is Outland-based and the new meeting stone system for instances, which act like warlock summons for weary travelers.

All in all, he does note that if you're lower-leveled, the world has a sense of always having something beyond. On the other hand, the higher up you are, the smaller your world becomes, but the more you want to play in the meantime.
