Death Knights - Image 1

Looking for more information on World of Warcraft's Death Knight? Want to end the rumors and speculation about losing your character if you unlock the Death Knight? Want to learn about at the future of Gnome Death Knights? Well, look no further, because we've got the thread that answers those questions.

Vaneras has posted a veritable compendium of information related to the new Death Knight hero class in Blizzard's MMO game. While it doesn't explain who can become Death Knights yet, it does explain what the basic mechanics that will be in place for Death Knight spells, as well as what happens when the death knight is unlocked.

To give an example, Vaneras had this to say in the case of Death Knight unlocking:

You will not be transforming or converting one class into a Death Knight, you will instead be able to unlock the class for play. The current thinking behind this design decision is that it is important for players to feel like that they don't have to give up a long term character for the chance to play the new heroic class.

Many people had the perception that what you would be doing was to choose a class to specialize into the hero class that would then be an extension of your current class, but that's not how we're doing it. We felt that if we did that for all of the classes, we would be adding too many classes into the game at once and as a result making continuing efforts toward class balance very difficult.

There you have it folks. All the info that's fit to print on the current status of the Death Knight. Read it and be informed, and pray that Gnome Death Knights still become viable for play in the future.

 » No

Not all Death Knights are undead. Some were created from living Human Paladins

 » Bad Decisions

This "class" is just a bad decision by Blizz to try and keep people from hopping over to AoC or Warhammer when they release. As with Burning Crusade, it was released to quickly and without a great deal of balance. Classes were nerfed, ect.. and in the long run, the game become less enjoyable to play. If they're going to do hero classes then they ought to save it and do it right. All this is going to do is cause every person playing the game to have a FREE Death Knight toon to wander around in. Having multiple choices for Hero classes opens the door for people to really craft their characters. As it stands, this just means that every moron who can complete a few quests will be running around as a Death Knight. Way to disappoint yet again Blizz.
