The price of fame: new keylogger invades World of Warcraft

As a safety reminder to all World of Warcraft players, Nethaera tells all to upgrade their security measures and be cautious about their web surfing practices by making sure that the links they're clicking won't lead them to a phishing site. This time around, the new keylogger has been spreading around the WoW Forums under an HTML filename that starts with "tonydanza.a11net".

Getting craftier every time, keylog programmers, scammers, and even the minds behind hacks are sneaking inch-by-inch to your paid account name and password. And because World of Warcraft is easily the world's biggest money-making MMO machine, all Hell could break loose if they finally succeeded to significant degree.

So remember: check a link's destination even before clicking on it (right-clicks are always nice) and try to be a bit wary of visiting World of Warcraft related sites that could slip in a couple of scripts or two. Or you can always grab an application gateway and stop those keyloggers from sniffing your keyboard buffer.

Some even keep adventure logs and day planners to store everything they've seen or want to see in World of Warcraft. It's a nerd thing, nothing new.
