Can't take the annoying voices? Take that headset off! - Image 1Voice chat, or no voice chat? It's not a very hard question for players who can't play competitively as a team without direct communication. Many are oblivious to the thought, and simply want to play in their own privacy.

With the upcoming and much anticipated voice chat feature for World of Warcraft, there are plenty of mixed reactions. A forum poster over at the WoW forums even petitioned to scrap the idea entirely.

Zelazadda reasons out that the true meaning of messages can be conveyed through text chat even when misspelled. Voice chat could indeed cause misunderstandings, given the variety of citizens that make up WoW's population. Listening to different accents and trying to catch what's being said can be challenging.

The poster also comments on how difficult it would be to drop the hammer on players that will abuse the system. Unlike text logs which are easy to get, recording voice messages can be quite a drag.

Mentioned too were how shy introverts who could only be 'loud' by typing would have a hard time, and how people too lazy to type would force them to talk. Sounds like all these problems are based on the assumption that everyone will be forced to have voice chat.

It didn't take long before a Blizzard poster Nethaera responded to the fuzz. The post clarified that the voice chat feature will be strictly voluntary. Like most replies said, if you don't like to use it then turn it off.

Girls who are afraid to talk without getting hit on can use voice changers. Alternatively, guys who've been leeching off their rich boyfriends can say they don't have a mic, too shy to speak on mic, or just turn their voices to the sexy female beasts that they are.

 » Hit on...?

Girls who play and use speech programs get hit on...? I've never known any females I've played any games with to be hit on over ts or vent or anything else... But does it really happen?
