Battlegrounds as featured in Blizzard's World of Warcraft MMORPG - Image 1It seems that yesterday's Battlegrounds hotfix announced by Bornakk was received less warmly than expected from a lot of the members on the World of Warcraft forums. It might be more accurate to say that the reception was rather fiery  given the number of violent reactions gamers have expressed with the reduced number of AFK reports that can be issued to a player in a given Battleground.

Forum member Anadir expressed his concerns very emphatically by starting a thread titled "It's more than pathetic - it's insulting", directing the post at the solution Blizzard has come up with in the recent Battleground hotfix. Many other forum members rallied behind Anadir, suggesting that this was merely a temporary fix to the problem that Blizzard has long promised to look into.

This ruffled more than a couple of feathers, especially from the Blizzard team as Community Manager Drysc was quick to counter the many accusations. He explained that the update wasn't a solid "fix" in itself, but rather a change that they were able to implement based on the current situation. He explained himself further by saying:

[...] It's something we've been looking to do for a little while now, and since it's a hotfixable change (not everything is), we hotfixed it. We do have some fairly substantial Alterac Valley changes coming in a future patch that we hope will address some of the balance and play issues.

While Drysc was rather vague about his final point, we'll all just have to see what plans the Blizzard development team have in store for the future.
