Actizard? BlizVision? Not exactly. The new joint company comprising of Activision and Vivendi is actually known as Activision Blizzard. Under the new contract, the two companies will be joining under one banner to produce top-notch games that have captivated gamers throughout the years.
Because the move took a lot of people by surprise, Blizzard was quick to post an FAQ on the World of Warcraft forums to squash any further rumors from flying. Blizzard Poster Ordinn explained the joint deal by saying: "joining forces with Activision will create a stronger and more diversified company that we anticipate will benefit and strengthen both brands."
As for those people wondering if this will adversely affect any of the games under the Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. name, here's the answer:
There will be no changes in the way Blizzard operates. All of the people, processes, and philosophies that have made Blizzard so successful will be preserved. Blizzard will benefit from all-star sales and distribution teams to service our products. In addition, the combined company will be stronger financially, managerially, and operationally. For people who are worried about the development of games such as StarCraft II or Wrath of the Lich King, Ordinn mentions that both companies will still work independently on their existing projects and will keep all existing names from each game's parent company.
The transaction of the new company is expected to be completed sometime by mid-2008. For those of you interested on the other details of the deal, you can checkout the complete FAQ from the WoW forums through the via link we've provided below.
