Growl pet ability - Image 1In one way or another, the Growl ability of pets oftentimes finds itself saddled with bugs from its involvement with the Boar's Charge problem to the Auto-cast defect. Now, over at the World of Warcraft forums, gamer Xsfer is having some confusion with the Growl ability and the patch notes.

According to the patch notes, "the hunter pet ability Growl will no longer scale with pet Attack Power." Blizzard community manager Nethaera dropped by the said thread and gave a series of swift replies, clarifying that Growl will scale with a pet's Attack Power.

Okay, so that's more of a contradiction than a clarification. So Nethaera followed that up with a clearer elaboration:

Growl was scaling incorrectly before so it's been changed to scale with the hunter's AP starting at around 1200 AP. Other pet abilities such as bite, claw, etc will still scale with pet AP.

If you are unaware of the Growl attribute, it is an ability of a hunter pet to generate pure threat (lots of it) especially in Aggro situations. Nethaera added that the patch changes will not change the normal amount of threat produced by Growl.
