World of Warcraft - Image 1

Even now that the Blizzard's World of Warcraft has established itself as a social game with raids insisting that players partake their roles for the Alliance or Horde, some are still mindful of the numbers they see in terms of damage they deal or health they heal. This raises the question: Are damage and healing meters really necessary? A blue poster thinks so.

Drysc shared his thoughts, saying that while the meters can cause unhealthy obsessions over end results, they also help in statistical tracking and analysis. He explained that making numbers available give players a chance to figure how they fare with with others in World of Warcraft, though stats can be demeaning to comrades when you're supposed to be working together.

Ultimately, Drysc believes that damage and heal meters in World of Warcraft are "infinitely more valuable for analysis, breakdowns, and comparisons which can help lead to better and more efficient play."
