Balance is a critical issue for any game, World of Warcraft included. That was probably on Cobra's mind as the Blizzard forum member posed the question: would a single Death Knight per WoW account prevent a flood of the new Hero class after the Wrath of the Lich King update rolls around?
Cobra's question raised the issue of possible profession abuse, and Blizzard forum member Syreen expressed concern that World of Warcraft would become imbalanced as a result of too many Death Knight cooks spoiling the broth.
Blizzard blue poster Nethaera had this to say about the matter:
We still have awhile before we can say if there will be restrictions.
Generally though, when something new comes out, people will flock to it. After a period of time, some will decide it's not what they want, that their guild needs something else or any other thing that will lead them away from playing a Death Knight exclusively.
We plan to make sure the Death Knight balances in among all of the other classes.
Whatever Blizzard plans to do with the Death Knight, it may very well serve as the template for the treatment of other new classes if ever the company should opt to introduce them to WoW players in the future.
