After a millenia of abandonment, the Utgarde Keep is now home to the
race of the vrykul. The vrykul are a race of half-giants, powerful and
menacing. They wield the magic of mysterious runes and have tamed
proto-dragons to become their mounts.
Their home, Utgarde Keep, is one of the most difficult dungeons in World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Utgarde Keep reaches deep into the bowels of the earth and is located on the cliffs of Daggercap Bay in the Howling Fjord. There, the vrykul have nearly overrun the city of Valgarde.
The vrykul possess enormous strength and stamina, and the deadliest among them are those that know the secrets of mysterious runes, ones that even the experienced are not familiar with. Their magic can freeze foes completely... and then shatter them.
The vrykul are allied with the sleeping King Ymiron, although it is not sure where Ymiron's loyalties stand. Rumors have been heard that Ymiron is allied with the Scourge, but provides no assurance. What is known is that for now, the vrykul are led by Ingvar the Plunderer and desire to conquer Northrend.
