Ó

WoW logo - Image 1The next time your Mage's counterspell backfires, and you find yourself getting the living snot beaten out of you by whatever character/monster you were casting it on, don't feel too bad.

According to Cahrnah over at Europe's World of Warcraft Forums, this appears to be a bug that's been affecting other mages, with the effect that counterspell is supposed to kick in on use - interrupting the target's spell school for 8 seconds - not taking effect at all.

The case doesn't seem to be limited to mages, however, as forum member Zetakya further reported that other interrupt/silence skills had the same problem, such as the warrior's shield bash ability. Blizzard representative Thundgot's already blue-labelled this bug report, so the devs should be looking into the matter as report this bug. Stick around in case we pick up word of an update.

 » counterspell backfiring

Doesn't counterspell have some chance to fail? My casts fail sometimes and that doesn't seem like a bug but rather about resistance. How is that different from what is being described in the article?
