WoW Forum Moderator Nethaera gives details on Blizzard's priorities - Image 1

A lot of people have been questioning Blizzard's priorities lately. It seems that in World of Warcraft, every time a problem is brought up, the GMs usually say that it isn't a priority but will be fixed next patch. So what exactly is the company focusing on?

If you don't think that's very important, consider this: there have been quite a few players who decided they aren't going to play anymore since they don't know where the game is heading. While Blizzard has promised continual support for the MMO, many have felt that the problems are being neglected.

A player by the name of Bloodsong posted on the forums a few questions regarding what projects Blizzard is currently prioritizing so that gamers will at least have a general idea on what's happening.

List of Questions:
  1. WoW or Starcraft 2?
  2. Balancing classes or creating new content?
  3. Raiding or PvP?
  4. Professions or transportation?
  5. Next patch or next expansion?
  6. New races or new classes?
  7. New zones or new quests?

These questions seem rather valid, and for an entire page, it seemed like no "blue poster" was going to address the situation. Fortunately, Blizzard's Nethaera got onboard and addressed the questions that were presented as well as the situation they are in now.
  1. World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2 are being developed by different but equally dedicated teams.
  2. Everything else goes hand in hand since they are all interconnected. Balancing classes will always be a continual evolution.
  3. Raiding and PvP are both integral parts of WoW.
  4. Professions and transportation aren't co-dependent on each other and can be worked on without one hindering the other in their advancement.
  5. Each patch is a continuation of development as well as a set up for future expansions. You can't build a house without a foundation after all.
  6. As for new races and new classes, consideration is made as to what will best enhance and advance the story of World of Warcraft.

New zones and new quests also go hand in hand. You can't very well have a new zone without new quests. Although, I am sure we've also mentioned that we have some work going on with Zangarmarsh to update a few things there.

I don't have an eta of when anything will be implemented though or what more is to come on that front at this time. Sorry. We will announce more plans as we are able. Things are always in the works on multiple fronts. It's quite a complex machine we have running here with a lot of moving parts. Or maybe it's more like an obstacle course with lots of sharp blades. We tend to be as careful as possible to not get cut.

 » Idiots...

The question of Starcraft II has been raised many a time... and yet people don't understand the simple, obvious fact that it's being developed by a DIFFERENT TEAM.

Give Blizzard more credit than that. You don't make games as big as Starcraft II and WoW and then neglect one in favour of the other.

 » A non-reply

This is yet another example of a Blizzard non-reply. To simplfy, I'll sum up the answers given to each of the questions:

WoW or Starcraft 2? Yes
Balancing classes or creating new content? Yes
Raiding or PvP? Yes
Professions or transportation? Yes
Next patch or next expansion? Yes
New races or new classes? Yes
New zones or new quests? Yes

To Starayo:

While the games are being developed by different teams, the simple obvious fact remains that if these two teams were combined into one WoW team, these changes could be implemented much quicker. In this regard WoW is suffering due to the development of Starcraft. As a result, WoW is being neglected in favor of Starcraft.

» ayup, once again lame blue

that reply was shamefull. it'd be amazing to not have dodgy blizzard reps on the forums who where in control of things and posted with authority.

we need epic reps, who get voted in by players and recieve a boost in salary for being "the players champion".

nethera is a dodgy piece of work that is slippery like a vaselined up eel in the hands of a hentai princess.

she will dodge, and elude to a brighter future but allways falls down when she uses the word "soon"...
