It's standard operating procedure for MMORPG servers to go down periodically for maintenance. Blizzard's World of Warcraft servers aren't exempted from this.

What player Shinyee wanted to know, however, was whether the Tournament Realm servers would be going down with the rest of the regular servers for maintenance today.

For some reason, WoW player Shinyee needed to know before the end of last night. The player even requested for a quick response. Fortunately, Blizzard blue poster Bornakk obliged Shinyee with the following statement: "When all realms go down for maintenance, the Tournament Realms will as well."

Considering how Blizzard mentioned that the Tournament Realms were stable, it makes sense that the company would take steps to keep them that way.
