Player Abring prefers scenery like this in World of Warcraft - Image 1When you sign up to play a medieval-themed MMORPG like Blizzard's World of Warcraft, you'd naturally expect medieval elements in it, right? That's not always the case, according to WoW player Abrint. In fact, the player is hoping that Wrath of the Lich King will not have the sights of space and planets (Twisting Nether, anyone?) that The Burning Crusade has.

As with most threads on Blizzard's forums, responses from other WoW players were varied. Some of them argued that World of Warcraft is still very medieval-looking in spite of things. Others felt the game wasn't purely medieval but more steam-punkish in nature, especially with the presence of such things as firearms, explosives and mechanical chickens.

Blizzard blue poster Drysc joined in on the discussion with the following response:

Azeroth was created by some doods that fly around outer space. Orcs came through a portal. This isn't just medieval, never has been.

Buuuuut, Northrend and the Lich King expansion is definitely less outer space and more down to Azeroth like you probably expected the game to be when you bought it.

Regardless of whether World of Warcraft is actually medieval or not, things are still going to be a little different once Blizzard rolls out the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
