 If you've ever found yourself either too low or too high on the manpower end while preparing for dungeon raids in World of Warcraft, then you're not alone.
Blizzard forum member Beefpile has lamented the strict party number requirements of instanced WoW dungeon raiding and suggested that a minor instance scaling system be implemented so that fewer or more people may be able to join in on the fun.
Some Blizzard forum members offered interesting responses amidst the chaos. Some forum members thought that WoW instanced scaling would only lead to imbalances and nerfs. Others mentioned that the true problem lay in people not showing up for raids when they were supposed to.
Blizzard CM Bornakk had this take on the matter:
While this seems like a simple fix in words, it is much more complicated than just "making it so everybody can play" or "scaling it". We design dungeon for a certain number of people, but we also have to keep all of the classes in mind. Encounters can be setup for multiple tanks or intense DPS situations so trying to scale the encounters without changing the players' abilities would likely make some part much easier.
While this does essentially make it known that there won't be any big tweaks for the instancing system any time soon, it does present us with the reality game devs have to go through to make the game fun from multiple angles. From the looks of things, however, it seems that World of Warcraft players will just have to adjust and make the most of the limitations for the time being, though that might not be a bad thing, if you can find a group for your instancing needs, that is.
