WoW hardware sound acceleration to be re-activated in patch 2.3 - Image 1While Blizzard didn't make make an official announcement, some World of Warcraft players have noticed that hardware sound acceleration  has been put back in the system.

Player Cicero noted, "As of build 7468, hardware sound acceleration has returned. I turned it back on and poof, all my sound problems were gone. I can hear myself cast again, no more clipped sounds". These problems began when Blizzard performed sound upgrades during patch 2.2.

A handful of players have even mentioned that the in-game chat feature is the culprit behind the problems. During the height of these issues, some companies such as Creative tried to intervene and offered Blizzard their help.

Take note that this update is still in the Public Test Realm (PTR) server and will go live with patch 2.3. Blizzard forum moderator Tigerclaw added that players should report
any specific bug involving the hardware sound mode.
