Dude, WTF? - Image 1Bronco Carson, a World of Warcraft player from Mexico, reported to police on Saturday that three men broke into his home and beat his arms with clubs and totalled his computer. The reason? Carson had been repeatedly ganking the WoW character of the wife of one of his assailants.

Carson reportedly told police that he had been "making it hard for her to get far in the game." The woman had already threatened Carson online, and Carson said that he had already been constantly harassed in-game two weeks prior to the attack.

And then Carson made the mistake of giving the woman his address, telling the woman that "if her husband was man enough to just come meet me to settle this."

The result? Carson got two broken fingers and a fractured wrist during the assault. His computer and entertainment center were also totaled by his three attackers before they left. "I knew that I might be messed with in the game but I didn't really expect her husband to come looking for me," said Carson. "I couldn't have been more wrong."

Now let this be a lesson to everybody. Taunting people behind the relative safety of the Internet may be fun, but don't be stupid enough to give out your real home address. If you do, then it's a whole new ballgame.

I love these online bullies who think they're immune to retribution in the real world. That's why I always laugh at fools when they're calling other people names and throwing insults left and right.

If you're without the means to physically defend yourself, then why are you trying to be a bully online?

Get a clue folks, some people aren't so forgiving!

I play WOW it is a fun game. The article states he was ganking her character repeatedly. Ganking is killing another persons character. Only hostile sides can attack each other and you have to be set to (player versus player to be attacked). So this lady had to be on player vs player server or on a player versus environment server with her character set to player versus player. Otherwise he could have never ganked her in the first place. I feel real bad for the guy and he should never given out his address. As for the women she is an idiot one for sending her husband and for setting her game play up for being attacked if she does not want to be.

There's no way this can be true, alliance/horde can't talk to each other, not even to make arrangements to talk outside the game. Anyone who plays knows this.

I have ganked lots of people fromt eh other faction repeatedly...hell it's fun! Thats what a pvp (Player vs Player) server is about. Adds another level of play to yoru game if you like that. If you don't liek that then move to a care bear server...

In terms of different factions talking to each other directly...tis true you can not do it...unless you set up another accoutn on the same server and join the same faction. ROFL!! I love when I gank someone enough they have to make a horde charcater to come tell me what an a$$ I am...I love pooring salt in the wound by responding ... iIii (flip em the bird) Wooot!! whatch the fire works start....can you say reported!! lol!

Actually, the alliance and horde CAN talk to each other, On most large servers there is a server wide I.R.C. Channel that players on both factions gather on to play/make arrangements, My home server (skullcrusher) Has 3 channels for this stuff, and a ton of private guild channels, we also have vent servers dedicated to cross faction communication. So if he was on a high pop older server, then its completely doable

   Re: I play (Unregistered) - 2007-05-02
 » the article states

The article states the harasment was in the form of ganking. (killing another character)

You can only kill another person in a duel. You need to agree to these.

Ganking would require you are opposite factions in the game. Alliance Vs Hord the two sides at War (World of WAR Craft)

You need to be set to Player Vs player to be ganked. So she eaither picked a player vs player server or she turned on player vs player on her character. Eaither way she made the choice to be attacked from hostile players.

I have been ganked a few times and sometimes repeatedly. I have either battled, called for help from guild members, or turned of PVP (takes 5 minutes to shut off so need to hide or respawn at a grave yard to get a way).

Come on anyone who has played the game knows on a pvp server which is the only one you can gank someone. You cannot talk to the other faction. The other faction is the only one you can gank so this article is obviously fake!!!

   Re: Bewbiez (Unregistered) - 2007-05-02
 » @ Morons that think you can't talk x-faction

Seriously, do you people not understand what forums are? People talk cross faction all the time.

   Re: Yo (Unregistered) - 2007-05-02
» I go with the fake

She was getting ganked in the game, obviously a different faction. So they couldn't talk in game. So if they were to communicate in a forum, they communicate via a forum, they would have had to somehow be on the same forum, somehow figure out who the other person was, and then start the threatening. So yes...people can talk on forums, but what are the odds of that? Not very likely. Besides article above didn't state that they talked over forums.

So the article is fake. Very entertaining, very fun and very fake. Come to think of it, the game is also fake (surprise!), very entertaining and very fun, but still fake.

Come on everyone! Enjoy the game, enjoy the article.

Physical violence is frequently the only way to solve anything. Ever hear of World War II? Or should we have just talked the Nazi's into giving up?
In fact, I would be willing to bet that physical violence solved the problem in this very case. I dont think Mr. Bronco Carson will be 'ganking' anyone in the near future.

First, the woman is a stupid *****. She doesn't know the game. She gets people to sort her problems out. She's a retard. I hope her tampon turns into a hedgehog.
Second, the husband should be jailed. Yes it's a criminal offence and anyone saying that violence does solve problems should go to jail along with him and see how their a$$hole likes some violence.
Third, the guy who got beat is obviously another c0ck. Repeatedly screwing someones game for kicks is lame enough but then giving his address and inviting retaliation is asking for it. Deserves getting screwed for being an idiot.
Finally I'm amazed at how stupid some of the replies are around here. If anyone wants to give me their real address then I'll come round and dish out some lessons. Me and Mr Crowbar.

   Re: Eric (Unregistered) - 2007-05-02
 » not joking

A lot of people died in world war 2. The aggression of the Nazi's was totally unaccetable. It's a good example of violence begetting violence and ultimately their own destruction. So was violence acceptable to the nazi's in hindsight? I think they would have chosen another path had they known we were going to fire bomb Dresden and Berlin. The nazi's were also criminals and patriots, those who resort to violence to solve problems, but the rest of us should not stoop so low.

Mr. Carson does not deserve to have his fingers broken for "ganking" anyone, but the people who broke his fingers also broke the law and deserve to go jail.

I do recognize, as Huey Newton said, that "violence is as american as apple pie", but hey, this happened in Mexico!

   Re: Curry (Unregistered) - 2007-05-03
 » Physical violence

Yes Adam, physical violence is needed sometimes. For example, when a 'master race' invades all of their neighbor countries while making certain groups of people EXTINCT by gasing millions.

However.

Physical violence as 'resolving' problems with some internet bully is a totally different thing.

If you are here to discuss semantics - fine. If you are here to defend what they did to the mexican - get a clue.

Violence solves everything you stupid nerds. Nobody listens to words, it's the threat of force behind the words that forces anyone to act. Do you think criminals would stay in jail if not for guards and iron bars? Would you pay your taxes if the government didn't threaten you otherwise?

That's the problem with this country now. Children need to be beaten because it's through force and punishment that an objective ethical system is constructed in an individual. It's also why a majority of women are terrible in positions of power, if you've never been held accountable for your actions, you're just going to abuse power and not have any concern for other's well being. People that disclaim violence and instead feel they should be free to act as they want are simply attempting to escape any repurcussions. Words are easily ignored by an aggressor.

These guys shouldn't be arrested, they should be given a reward. Hopefully violence will be recognizes as a valid form of meting out justice soon, our jails are filled with criminals that don't get reformed and just waste our tax dollars. Better instead to beat some sense in these idiots, so that they fear ever committing a crime again.

It's true that lack of fear has made many act out of control and disrespectful to others; so some fear of getting hurt does make you think twice. The important thing to be aware of in common situations like this is... Anyone can give out some elses address or identity and blame them saying "it's me come get me!" and you just did their dirty work or and innocent prank gone bad, or even deadly. Both parties, always think twice please ; )
