WoW: rerolling the same class - back to basics

What do you think about rerolling the same class? Kraylessa from the LJ WoW Ladies community asked this question as she is thinking of rolling another priest.

Rolling a new character in the World of Warcraft is like going on a new adventure - but we're talking about rolling a character of a different class. Rerolling a character for a class that you've had previously, preferably high level is really something that few people will find fun. Worse if you choose to roll a character of the same class and race. The repetition of quests and grinding among other things might just be like watching paint dry. Or watching a movie which you already know the ending before it even starts.

So what do you guys think? Would you reroll a character in the World of Warcraft for any reason (except maybe for accidental deletion)?

Been there done that. Had a 47 'lock, horde side as my first character when I started playing. Ended up not playing for about 6 months and when I got back I had pretty much forgotten how to play the character. A coworker of mine talked me into playing again, so started another lock since I really enjoy the class. This time a Gnome. Made it up to 29 and realized I HATED the look of the gnomes. Rolled a human and voila now at 65. Stared a BE lock on a different server when the expansion came out. After 50 I DID consider deleting and re-rolling since I felt I choose the wrong quest reward (choose the staff for the 50 quest and should have got the trinket).

just get to 58 - go outlands get Greens better than all the blues you had before. when you're 70 you dont need trinket for lvl 50...

I've rerolled under the same class (night elf, druid) after having pushed my first out to 70. I did choose a couple opposites, the new druid is female and where I specc'd my lvl 70 to feral my intent with this one is to go resto.

It's been slow going in part because I've done it all before but there's some aspects that are fun. Even though the characters have the capacity for all the same strengths/weaknesses irregardless of gender they move differently and gear appears differently on them. As well, night elf girls tend to get a lot more help doing things from other players than night elf boys. Not that I'd exploit that factor per se' ;)
