Yeah, house building for your character isn't really a new concept. People have been building houses for their characters since way back in the late 90s in those old faux-3d isometric MMOs. But, you've got to admit: we all want to be able to do something similar in nice, cartoony, burning hot, 3D Azeroth.

David Moore, Managing Editor of gamebunny, has a player housing wish list targeted at the devs of Blizzard. Yes, the god complex and the need to play doll house is something natural to us gamers. Why else do you think Second Life sells so much?

Anyhoo, below are the top three suggestions in Moore's Wish list. To get the rest of them, feel free to use our "Read" link below.
  1. Varying Sizes and Price Points - Early in a character’s life the first, cheap housing should be made available. Perhaps a small apartment at level 20 for a modest fee. Later, characters should be able to buy up and purchase a small home. Eventually, larger domociles, for greater amounts of gold should be made available. The proverbial carrot-on-the-stick method that Blizzard does so well. Give players something to work towards and impress others with. For guilds - Guild Housing is a must. Rent is fine for apartments.

For homes, a monthly "mortgage" would work if enough gold was not on hand for an outright purchase. Hey, it’d help with the “stickyness” factor. Gotta keep up those payments!

  2. Furniture - This is where it gets fun. Tables, chairs, desks, beds…guillotines, iron maidens. The list of what could be included boggles the mind. Cabinets, toilets, alchemy stands - you name it.

  3. Wall Hangings - Paintings, war trophies (such as swords and/or skulls of vanquished enemies), tapestries, candle sconses and shelving come to mind.
