Well, it looks like explanations are in order for some of the new stuff that arrived with World of Warcraft's Midsummer Fire Festival. In this case, the Bonfire's Blessing buff which player Esfand reports wasn't dealing the damage indicated on its tooltip.

Esfand explained that Bonfire's Blessing was supposed to deal 440 damage on a proc, but instead, only 44 damage was being dealt when it appeared to activate. Kisirani dropped by the bug report thread to clarify that it was not Bonfire's Blessing that was activating, but an entirely different buff. As the Blizzard poster explained:

Do you also have the Fire Festival Fury buff you get from throwing a blossom into the fire? If so, that's what you're seeing -- the buff gives you a damage shield that does your level in damage when you're hit. Bonfire's Blessing is a proc, and won't go off all the time.
