Hunters and range problems clarified - Image 1There's a bit of an uproar going around the World of Warcraft PTR forums these days related to the plight of the MMORPG's hunter and the new ranges made for them. Apparently, some folks are reporting that the tooltip, which says that hunters have a minimum ranged distance of one yard, is wrong.

Drysc dropped by the WoW forums to explain the problem, noting that the tooltip itself is problematic and a bug with attacking someone in melee range is also making the problem worse. He explains:

There's a tooltip error, it should be "5-35 yards". We want melee and ranged to be kept separate, so that when in melee attack range you should not be able to use a ranged attack. There's some amount of 'give' there, especially in fast paced PvP which can produce some temporary gray area but that's fully known with this change.

Feeding the issue of the tooltip error is a bug currently where you can indeed range attack someone while being meleed, but that's in the process of being resolved as well.

It's good to know that these bugs are being resolved, at least. Hopefully, they'll be fixed well before 2.3 comes out so hunters testing the new skills on the World of Warcraft PTRs can fully see the changes that 2.3 will bring to their characters.
