Recently, World of Warcraft lead game designer Tom Chilton (Kalgan) dropped by the MMORPG's official forums to share some thoughts on the reverted Warlock nerf and new skills the developers are thinking about giving the class.
A number of players have suggested that Chilton wouldn't be as enthusiastic about giving Warlocks new skills to play with because of all the "whining" they've been doing recently. Well, we're pleased to report that this is not the case. Here's what Chilton had to say about the whole thing:
I think a lot of people here greatly overestimate the effect of "whining" and have some serious misconceptions about whether we "like or hate" certain classes (or the people that play them)... So no, we're not sitting around going "rabble rabble, those darn forum locks are ruining our nerfing funz, no more fun for them, one year!"
On that note, Chilton also gave a little sneak peek on one of the skills the developers were messing around with, namely teleportation for Warlocks. Apparently, they want to give Warlocks some form of active defense:
An idea we're running with internally is the concept of a warlock being able to cast a spell that places a circle of demonic power on the ground.
The warlock would be able to teleport to this location from within a relatively short range (ie: 40 yards), and would also be able to summon demons more quickly if they're standing within the circle.
Don't expect to see Warlocks teleporting soon, though. Chilton mentioned that this ability is NOT slated for patch 2.4. If ever this ability does make it to the game, it will be released in a future expansion.
