World of Warcraft: Hypothermia duration 45 seconds in patch 2.3 - Image 1Every time a mage uses the Ice Block skill in Blizzard's World of Warcraft, it is automatically hit with Hypothermia. Originally added in patch 2.1.0, this debuff prevented the spamming of Ice Block through the Cold Snap ability.

Community Manager Eyonix announced that they plan on increasing the duration of this debuff from 30 seconds to 45 seconds in patch 2.3.0 thus raising the ire of many frost mages.

The blue poster said that they found that the current duration of Hypothermia was not long enough since players were often able to cast Ice Block twice against a single opponent.

Eyonix made it clear that they were trying to prevent that kind of skill abuse from mages. Of course, this sparked more angry comments from the rest of the Mages in the community with some saying that the developers don't understand the Mage class.

Hopefully, Blizzard finds a way to placate the angry mob of spellcasters while keeping the class from becoming overpowered in World of Warcraft.
