Blizzard's World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King - Image 1

Most of us World of Warcraft denizens are eager to know more about the upcoming expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, and every little bit of information helps tide us over until release. We've got a bit of information today, and it's all about the hero class, the Death Knight.

More information about the Death Knight came courtesy of Blizzard poster Bornakk, who reiterated that Death Knights will indeed start out "at a level lower than 70," the devs just haven't decided on what level. The poster also asked why some decisions about the hero class had to be made:

We did consider the option of "converting" an existing character to a Deathknight, it was one of the first thoughts really, we just have to keep in mind what also sounds like fun game play. Leveling a character just to throw it away doesn't really fit this very well.

I understand that it may not be your favorite part, but leveling is part of the game, especially when creating a new character. The extra boost in leveling should help introduce the epic-ness (is that a word?) of the first Hero Class and give people more of a chance to try it out. While they may be a little behind in leveling, Deathknights will find their way into raid groups too, just like Shaman and Paladins did for the Alliance and Horde when they were first introduced.

There you have it. It might be better for us to wait until the Death Knight's specifics are finalized, though we know that might be a little too long for some of us. We'll keep you posted on more Wrath of the Lich King news so stay tuned.
