XRI Cross Realm Ignore

We all hate spammers - people who flood our inbox, answering machines and other communication devices with unnecessary information or messages. Now if you are a World of Warcraft player, spams are a big issue concerning your BG channel as you are always interrupted with, as ChaosInc puts it, "flaming and/or buncha whining" from some coplayers. To remedy these sometimes really irritating scenarios, he devised a mod that'll automatically block any BS from any user. It's called XRI Cross Realm Ignore and judging from the feedback from the community, it's really a nifty app.

According to ChaosInc., quiet list should now automatically clear after every BG in XRI Cross Realm Ignore v1.6. Chatbox bug and other minor bugs have already been fixed. He also revealed some of things he is planning to add to this great WoW mod such as:
  • GUI list and options (don't expect this anytime soon, no clue how to do this yet)
  • add AutoQuiet mode (automatically enter quiet mode when entering a BG)
  • automatically add/remove players who join/leave the BG you're in while quiet mode is active
Here's the list of commands:
  • help: displays command help
  • add : adds to be ignored
  • remove: removes from ignored list
  • list (quiet): displays list of ignored people (quiet list)
  • clear (quiet): clears the ignore list (quiet list)
  • verbose: toggle verbose mode
  • quiet: ignores and filter all messages in BGs

Outland

Lookie Lookie, we got new gameplay video for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade! The video runs for 4:18 minutes and it features some interesting elements in the "Outland". Outland, or Draenor as it was called before, is one of the fictional zones in the Warcraft universe where Orcs, Ogres and Draenei calls "home". It has several locales, namely Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, Nagrand, Terokkar Forest, Shadowmoon Valley, Blade's Edge Mountains and Netherstorm. One of the more interesting elements in the World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade are the mounts.

Flying mounts are one of the much anticipated form of transportation since it allows players to travel either by ground or by air, taking you places in Outland at epic mount speed. Featured here in the video is the Gryphon Alliance, but the most sought-after are the rare flying mounts like the Nether Drake. Outfitter UI

What better way to personalize your gaming experience at World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade than to have multiple outfits that you can equip just with a single click of a mouse? What's more, you can do it by layering several outfits together or by creating a new one to optimize a particular attribute like fire resistance. Well, Outfitter does the job and the good news is that mundocani released another update.

The changes includes an optimized inventory that improves a player's performance while shooting, and a corrected Moonkin German translation. Combat detection is now working properly for druids shifting to bear form with Furor talents. Korean fans of WoW: The Burning Crusade will be delighted to know that Cat Form for druids is now available.

The development team reported having issues with the Select All and Select None buttons. They advised to report any problems regarding the beta version. In the meantime, they also spilled some of the features that they are planning to add for future versions such as:
  • Outfit analyzer to display complete statistics for the current outfit
  • Generate outfits to maximize TankPoints or HealPoints
  • Remember which bag items originally came from so they can be returned there when unequipped
  • Tooltips for stats in the character window are enhanced to display details about how that stat affects other attributes

But theres more to it than the difference in the surroundings of the two halves alone. Behind the magnificence of the other half of the city, the ruined half mirrors the dark struggle of the elves to feed their insatiable desire to master magic.

ethen_th from Curse Gaming has posted several screenshots of the character screen from the Burning Crusade expansion of World of Warcraft. Burning Crusade is the first game expansion for WoW which is expected to be released this year. It takes off from the World of Warcraft, with the races of the Horde and the Alliance continuing to rebuild their lives among the shattered lands of Azeroth. The expension allows players to develop new characters within the world of WoW as the game's level cap is raised from 60 to 70. Every level offers new spells, ability, and talent upgrades for each character class.

The first leaked screen particularly features the defensive abilities from the defense tab:

It shows the much talked about Resilience ability which according to ethen_th, "decreases the chance of an enemy's critical hit on you by 0.0% and is a value on items so a helm could have 12 Resilience and a conversion to % is done."

More character screens await after the jump.

WoW

We thought of something like this before, putting our impressive records and achievements in the MMORPG world in our resume. But we thought, what if our employer doesn't know anything about MMORPG? Surprised? Yes, its a fact that some people has never heard of MMORPG before. Well, its good if you are are applying to a company that is familiar to video games like QJ.

Interestingly, we came across a blog, and basing from his/her words, we can safely assume that he is an MMO player. In his blog, he discussed the implications of having your achievements in World of Warcraft, currently the world's most successful massively multiplayer online role-playing game, appear in your resume. Not a bad idea, eh? But according to him, the downside is if your employer is one of the people who associates video games such as MMO with lazy people.

good drug, bad habitMaressa Hecht Orzack had her share of addiction to computer games, specifically Solitaire - the card game built into millions of desktop and laptop computers. After overcoming her addiction, she now helps other "addicts" to break the habit as an assistant clinical professor at Harvard Medical School and director of the Computer Addiction Study Center at McLean Hospital in Belmont.

According to Orzack, games like The Sims, Everquest, or the hugely popular World of Warcraft draw millions of fans to wander into the massive online worlds that the games offer. Most of these gamers wander too far and can't seem to find their way out.

Blizzard claims to have more than 6.5 million active WoW subscriptions worldwide. As such, it is one of the most popular MMORPG in the world. Some WoW players admit that their addiction to the game has had negative effects on their family, social life, and even their relationship with co-workers. Hence, the term "World of Warcrack" entered the the gaming lingo.

US Air Force Staff Sergeant Joseph Hitchcock, of Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, shared his addiction experience on World of Warcraft. Due to his addiction to various computer games, his present wife divorced him in 2003. He started dating again but it didn't work out because he would prefer playing WoW than being with his girlfriend. Three months later, he and his wife reconciled and are now expecting a baby.

Blizzard Interactive's chief operating officer, Paul Sams, reacted upon hearing his company product likened to a mind-altering drug. He said that they utilize moderation techniques like when a player logs out of the game for a long time, he will receive an experience bonus, making the fantasy character a little stronger everytime the player takes a few hours off. There is also the parental control feature that limits kids' playtime online to one hour a night.

As for you gamers, we all know that too much of something is not always good. Gamers are advised not to confuse their real self with their game characters. Unlike our real self, these characters only need a potion or something to revive their health. Also, put in mind that we have a life separate from these games, and in focusing too much in these games, we may be putting our health, our social relationship with others at risk. Parents are likewise advised to monitor their children's gaming habits and be able to set a limit to their gaming time so they would be able to focus on other important things like their studies.
