When you've got a universe as big as the World of Warcraft, its no surprise that the idea of making a comic book on it would pop up sooner or later. I'm sure fans have already caught a whiff of this graphic continuation of the WoW franchise, and for those of you who are wondering how the first issue will come out, then wonder no more! Here we have the first few pages of this highly anticipated comic book that will be published by Wildstorm/DC Comics. The first cover was made by the comic book legend, Jim Lee, himself, while the interior art was provided by French artist Ludo Lullabi. With what we've seen so far, it looks like it's shaping up to be one great comic book. The first few pages already gives a brief look at the main protagonist of the story. It features the unnamed human who falls into the clutches of an Orc Shaman and becomes his slave. However, the human unwittingly learns the Horde's tactics during his enslavement and soon ends up fighting both the Alliance and the Horde. People on the WoWWiki site are calling him the "anti-Thrall" for lack of a name. Walter Simsonson is writing the story to this massive undertaking and has fully immersed himself into the world by researching the lore and the various factoids littered in the World of Warcraft. He even asked help from his grandson who became an official resource for his script. He acknowledged the help of many others and how the the project's scope was a bit overwhelming, saying: There are occasional visual moments, often surrounding the use of magic or magical stuff, where I needed to know how the visuals in the game worked when certain things happened. And I have a friend who lives nearby who is a WoW player. He has played the game almost from the conception, and he seems pretty cool with what we're doing so far. People can expect to see the comic book hit stores this November 14. Fans and comic book collectors alike definitely won't pass up the chance to get their hands on this pretty little piece. Thanks to Tracey for the tip! |

In case you're wondering what's been going on lately with the upcoming World of Warcraft comic book under works by Walter Simonson, we've got an update. The DC site has just updated with their November Solicitations, and as you've guessed, World of Warcraft #1 is right up there in the November 14 listing. And what does DC have to say about the comic's story synopsis? Here's a snippet: When a human is found unconscious on the shores of Kalimdor, with no memory of who he is or how he arrived there, how will he survive? Enslaved by an Orc Shaman, he must fight for survival against members of both the Alliance and the Horde. Will he strike the uneasy balance with the other races he'll need to find the secrets of his past? WoW #1 contains 32 pages, is priced at US$ 2.99, and will be available with two different covers: One is drawn by Jim Lee, while the other will be drawn by Blizzard Art Director Samwise Didier. Guys interested in pre-ordering the comic book are advised to drop by DC's site for details via the source link. |
