MMO Portal does MMO art for good causes - Image 1It's that time of the year when people are giving out calendars again, but in MMO Portal's case, there's one important difference: it's 2008 MMO calendar isn't free.

Why not? Simple: the MMO calendar is MMO Portal's annual fund-raiser for the benefit of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. MMO Portal isn't just selling calendars, however...

Find out what else MMO Portal is giving away after the jump!

January 2007Elathiel sent us word that their site was offering something that MMO fans might want to take a look at, especially since it's for a good cause. MMO Portal is selling 2007 calendars for charity, and it has some of your favorite MMOs on each page.

The calendar has artwork from a host of games and is signed by some of the developers of each. If you're wondering which MMOs are in the calendar (no nudity here!), here's a quick list:
The calendar is priced at US$ 15, with all of the proceeds going to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. If you're interested in buying, just remember that they only ship to the continental United States. Definitely a good cause to fight for.

MoneyIs the cost of your beloved hobby starting to dig deep into your pockets? A user named Elathiel gave us a heads-up that the MMO Portal website is giving away about a year's worth of free World of Warcraft playtime.

As we've said before, entry to the contest is free. The only requirements are that you give your mailing address (so they could send you the gametime cards in case you win), and that you be at least 13 years of age (facial acne is a requirement perhaps? *shrug*). The draw is set to to be done on September 30th at 8pm CST, so if you want to join you folks still have less than a month's time.

We've posted about contests and promotions like these before. I know this post may sound like advertising, but it's not. It's news for people like us, because for people who really need our regularly scheduled WoW Time, every bit of free time helps. If you guys have any more tips on saving a few bucks when it comes to paying for our online time playing our favorite MMORPGs, you're very much welcome to post them here.

Warcraft Startup Screen

So you're addicted to World of Warcrack... er... WarCRAFT. You want to play even more, perhaps smack Nefarian's head sideways a couple more times or pick up your own Thunderfury. Maybe you might even want to go on a nice lava-lit dinner date with Lady Onyxia.

That's great and all, but what if you're out of game time?

Well, it seems the folks at MMO Portal are offering a contest for not just a month of free WoW, but an entire YEAR.

12 months.

365 days.

525,600 minutes of Warcraft goodness.

It seems too good to be true, but well, it's worth a shot to apply.

They do have some specifics and restrictions, however:

1. You have to be a member of MMO Portal to even be considered.

2. You must not be homeless, meaning you have a physical mailing address to get your loot.

3. You have to be at least 13, and living somewhere where this sort of thing isn't illegal. Sorry kids.

4. You better not be working for them, or be their sponsor or related to them in any business sense.

I feel bad for the interns for their company, in this case. They work for free, and they can't get free WoW. A shame.

Oh well, if you can get in on the contest, then sign up, and good luck to you all, and maybe you can send us a free game card while you're at it.
