A bit of bad news has arrived regarding the entity that's now known as Activision Blizzard. The company sent out a press wire announcing that only five of Vivendi's games are expected to be published, leaving the future of the company's other titles in question. It's been quite a week for the World of Warcraft, with Blizzard's recent announcement of the beta sign-ups for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. There's also the matter of some extra details regarding the Vivendi-Activision merger, and of some additional speculation regarding Khel'Thuzad's floating fortress. Some shareholders were apparently not too pleased when Activision and Vivendi made known their plans to form a merger, and filed an injunction suit in an attempt to stop the development in its tracks. Contrary to what the many fans who shook their heads in disbelief believed when the news of the two publisher's pending merger hit the press, the deal apparently wasn't spurred by Vivendi and Activision. It seems like we have conclusive evidence of when Blizzard's highly anticipated World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion will finally arrive. In a recent statement released by Vivendi, the company hinted that the release date of the upcoming WoW expansion should be expected by the second half of 2008. Ubisoft has more reasons to celebrate once again as Assassin's Creed was hailed as the chart topper for the PC software sales list from the NPD Group. Other notable titles that were recognized during the week of April 6 to April 12 included Blizzard's World of Warcraft and Valve's Portal. Blizzard producer J Allen Brack was called in recently for a short interview regarding the massive success World of Warcraft is recently enjoying.

If the Activision/Vivendi merger pushes through, Citigroup analyst Brent Thrill has predicted a bright future for the company. He pointed out that the revenue of this new merged entity could rise as high as US$ 1.39 billion in 2009.
