Time Warner Cable's (TWC) Road Runner Internet service in New York City may have taken a turn for the worse as complaints of one of its cable Internet service rose to a peak today. Blizzard received distressing feedback on Time Warner's Road Runner service, which reportedly ended in random pockets of lag in World of Warcraft.

All in all, the issues severely degraded the gameplay experience for a fraction of the U.S. realms' players. People were led to believe that the issues experienced could have something to do with TWC's shift to "packet shaping," although they were quickly denied by representatives of the company.

"We don't have a network management policy called packet shaping," spokespersion Alex Dudley told Shacknews. He remained firm in the belief that the company would not implement any changes that would affect gameplay in Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft.

In contrast, however, investigative Internet surfers identified a portion of a press release gathered from connection technology site Broadband Reports. The text definitely stated the term "packet shaping" and implicated the name of Time Warner and the announcement of the technology's release around the U.S.

According to posters in the forum where the partial press release was discovered, the text information was e-mailed to them by customer service representatives in light of the recent increase of service complaints. But in a final note, Dudley has assured that Time Warner Cable is looking into the issue and promises that the problems will be resolved as soon as possible.

World of Warcraft Trading Card Game - Image 1For those who play the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game (TCG), epic cards that come with normal sets are very valuable, especially if they are loot cards. Magharim from the WoW forums inquired whether he can trade the loot card codes for gold.

Loot cards come with a code that players can convert into in-game items. The codes can be used only once and thus you have to be use which character on which realm you want to use it on. Magharim explained that the the code is basically an in-game item (he just wants to sell the code, not the card itself) and shouldn't be included in the "trading real life items or money for gold" rule. Blizzard poster from the Customer Service Forum, Vrakthris answered that it is against the rules.

Why? Because the code itself is a out of game item. So that would make it illegal to trade it for gold. The blue poster also explained that players can't convert the code into the item then sell it since once players convert the code, the resulting items are soulbound. However, players have the option of selling the card to a hobby store or put it up for auction because then they won't be trading an in-game item for real money.

For more World of Warcraft updates and information, stay tuned.

Kotaku's WoW account restored by Blizzard - Image 2Kotaku's WoW account restored by Blizzard - Image 1

This is a little follow up to our report yesterday on gaming site Kotaku's hacked World of Warcraft (WoW) account. What happened was one of its journalists logged on to the MMO video game only to find out that his level 62 Mage character called Rande has been stripped of its, well, everything. The journalist's mailbox and bank account were also robbed.

According to the journalist, he filed this immediately to Blizzard Entertainment and the latter promised to investigate on the matter. To his surprise, all missing in-game items have been restored back when he checked in today. The journalist mentioned,

After hearing horror tales from guild mates and commenters yesterday I expected to have to wait anywhere from three days to 'good luck with that', yet here I am, fully decked out in my lovely + frost heavy splendor, ready to fight beside my comrades once again.

He even said that he appreciates Blizzard's rather fast action to this problem. Good thing for Kotaku, and we don't mean to run on its parade, but we kind of think that the recovery happened so fast because the aggrieved party belongs to a video game site. We're pretty sure Blizzard doesn't want and doesn't need any bad publicity right now.

A couple of days ago, we also reported that a lot of accounts have been hacked recently with the use of a new keylogger hiding behind the filename "tonydanza.a11net". So if you're not a journalist, we suggest checking your systems now for the said file because we're not too sure if you'll also get such excellent customer service.

The Priest - Image 1

Blizzard Poster Nethaera opened a thread in the World of Warcraft Forums entitled Test Realm and Feedback. The thread was created with the intention of providing Forum members a means of voicing their concerns and feelings toward the recent priest nerf in a constructive way.

He says that yes, he is aware that at the moment it looks like all priests have received so far are nerfs, and he reassures that Circle of healing is being looked at for better utility. He adds that Lightwell MAY be looked at, however he can't promise anything on that front. Anyway, the point of the thread is so that he will be able to gather the feedback and relay it to the rest of the Blizzard team.

He reassures that he'll do his best to continue to give feedback to the developers and make sure that they are made aware of how the community feels. He says that he understands that the community may be generally angry at the moment, but he will continue doing his duties and carry the community message to the development team.
